Philippines — Meeting the housing aspirations of Filipino families amid changing market conditions will be among the key discussions at the 34th National Developers Convention of the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA).
Scheduled for September 16–17, 2026, at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City, Metro Manila, the convention will gather developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to discuss how the housing industry can respond to evolving demand.
Themed “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the convention will explore market trends, policy developments, and approaches to housing innovation.
“The housing sector has never operated in a vacuum. Regulations shift, market conditions change, and developers have to keep up. That’s exactly what the convention is for. We come together, we share what we know, and we figure out the next steps as an industry,” said Engr. Francis Richmond Villegas, SHDA Chairman of the Board.
Demand for housing is increasingly spreading beyond Metro Manila, supported by infrastructure improvements and the growth of emerging areas. First-time homebuyers and young families are contributing significantly to demand for economic and affordable housing, particularly in suburban townships.
At the same time, changing buyer preferences and market conditions are requiring developers to become more responsive to what households need and can afford.
Policy developments are also shaping the sector. Updated socialized housing price ceilings and other regulatory adjustments underscore the importance of aligning housing development with current market realities.
“Change in the housing industry is constant, but our mission has never wavered,” said Mr. Kerwin Padua, SHDA National President. “At the end of the day, everything we do is for Filipino families who want a home they can call their own. The landscape keeps shifting, but the goal of homeownership will stay.”
Padua emphasized that keeping developers informed about market behavior and demand will help the industry deliver affordable homes that respond to the needs of Filipino families.
The 2026 convention will feature sessions on regulatory updates, household composition, homebuyer trends, and strategic housing innovations, providing participants with perspectives that can inform future housing strategies.
